Frequently Asked Questions

General & Bookings

What is a mobile foot health practitioner, and what do you do?

A mobile foot health practitioner provides professional foot care treatments directly in the comfort and convenience of your own home. We handle everything from routine nail trimming to managing common foot conditions like corns, calluses, and ingrown toenails.

How do I book an appointment?

You can book an appointment by calling me at 07743780966, sending an email to bradley@pleasantsteps.co.uk, or using our online booking form on the website.

What areas do you cover?

I currently provide mobile foot health services across Mansfield and the surrounding areas such as Sutton-in-Ashfield, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, South Normanton and Alfreton. If you are unsure whether I cover your location, please give me a call!

What to Expect During a Visit

Do I need to prepare anything before I arrive?

Not at all! All I ask is that you find a comfortable chair to sit in where there is reasonable lighting. I will bring all the necessary sterilised equipment, towels, and protective gear.

How long does a typical treatment take?

An initial appointment usually takes about 45 to 60 minutes because it includes a full medical history check and a vascular assessment of your feet. Subsequent routine appointments typically take around 30 to 45 minutes.

How do you ensure hygiene and safety?

Your safety is my top priority. I use a fresh set of biologically sterilised (autoclaved) instruments for every single patient. I also wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and sanitise the work area before and after treatment.

Treatments & Medical Questions

What conditions can you treat?

I offer a wide range of treatments, including:

  • Routine nail cutting and filing

  • Thickened or fungal nail management

  • Corn and callus (hard skin) removal

  • Ingrown toenail treatment (non-surgical)

  • Verruca advice and treatment

  • Cracked heels skincare

Can you treat patients with Diabetes?

Yes, absolutely. Diabetic foot care requires specialised attention due to potential circulation and nerve issues. I am fully trained to provide safe routine foot care and conduct diabetic foot assessments, advising you if a referral to a specialist is needed.

What is the difference between a Foot Health Practitioner (FHP) and a Podiatrist?

Both professions care for your feet, but to different levels. Foot Health Practitioners (FHPs) handle routine foot care, maintenance, and common conditions like corns, calluses, and nail care. Podiatrists (or Chiropodists) are university-trained medical professionals who handle high-risk complex cases, biomechanical assessments, and minor surgeries. If your condition is beyond my scope, I will happily refer you to a local podiatrist or GP.

Pricing & Payments

How much does a treatment cost?

  • Initial Consultation & Treatment: £40 (£35 for seniors aged 65+)

  • Initial Verruca Treatment (Verrutop): £50

  • Follow-up Verruca Treatments (Verrutop): £40

What payment methods do you accept?

I accept cash, debit/credit cards via our mobile card reader, and bank transfers. Payment is taken at the end of your appointment.

What is your cancellation policy?

I understand that plans change! I kindly ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment so we can offer the slot to another patient. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may incur a fee.

Qualifications & Experience

What are your qualifications?

I am a fully qualified and certified Foot Health Practitioner (FHP), having completed my training at Stonebridge College. I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Foot Health Practice, which equips me with the theoretical knowledge and hands-on clinical skills required to safely treat a wide range of foot conditions.

Are you registered with a professional body?

Yes. I am a registered member of The Register of Foot Health Practitioners (RFHP) and The Alliance of Private Sector Practitioners. Being part of a professional register ensures that I maintain the highest standards of practice, adhere to a strict code of ethics, and continuously update my skills.

Do you have insurance and background checks?

Absolutely. For your peace of mind and protection, I hold full Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance. Additionally, as a mobile practitioner visiting clients in their homes, I hold an up-to-date, DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.

How do you stay up-to-date with the latest foot health practices?

I am committed to Continuous Professional Development (CPD). This means I regularly attend seminars, complete advanced training courses, and study the latest clinical research to ensure that the care and advice I give you is always safe, current, and effective.
